Victoria is blessed to have many of Australia’s iconic fauna species, whether it be those “weird” egg-laying mammals the Platypus and Echidna, the cuddly Koala (note they are not Koala Bears), the two that hold up our coat-of-arms, the Kangaroo and Emu or some of the World’s most deadly snakes such as the Tiger Snake and Eastern Brown Snake. Along with these are many birds which people travel from all over the World to see including the Superb Lyrebird, Brolga, the only Black Swan, Wedge-tailed Eagle, several species of Albatross, the Laughing Kookaburra, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Galah, Little Penguin and hundreds of others.
We have chosen to highlight a few of these species and provide you with some interesting facts and information on each, accompanied by photographs. Many of these species are also displayed in Flickr® albums under our Photography tab. We are adding to these albums regularly as we take additional photos or get the chance to sit down and catalogue the photos we already have.
